Big events ... why?
Don’t ask us if we have fought in the big events.
First we don’t have the money. Second what for?
We are breeding to share to the common sabungeros our bloodlines. We are trying to make available to them, at affordable prices bloodlines that are acceptably competitive in any level of cockfighting. To serve the purpose we don't have to participate in big events, even if we can afford it. You don’t have to win the World Slasher to share affordable chickens to common sabungeros.
And there is no sense courting big timers, anyway they will not acquire our roosters because big timers only get high-priced chickens, no matter what. Having low-priced roosters will hurt their ego, and it is bad for their reputation.
So why would we fight in the big events?
We are fighting though in breeders’ tournaments such as CVBA, VIGBA, Bakbakan and Digmaan. In fact in 2015, our bloodlines propelled Jimmy Camposano of Leyte, to cop both the EVGBA BOTY and the FIGBA (formerly NFGB) BOTY awards. No easy feat and we are proud of it. Thanks to brothers Jimmy and Reiner Camposano and to our long-time client, now partner, Lemuel Go of Tacloban.
We are also fighting in many other respectable derbies. Yes we are fighting but not much. We fight only to test the competitiveness of our bloodlines. We are not fighting much because who will then buy our chickens if our clients will feel that we are actually competing with them for the best of our stock. Moreover, if we are regularly fighting in the big events for who will believe we sell good rooster cheap when we ourselves are fighting big time. Everyone will think we are selling our discards because we are fighting our best.
To us the greater satisfaction as breeder is not winning derbies with our bloodlines ourselves, but by helping others win derbies with our bloodlines. It is proof that we don’t keep the best for ourselves. The Camposanos; as well as some Cebu Sinulog champions; and many others who have won derbies using our bloodlines can attest.
Perhaps, in due time and for some reasons, we may participate in some major events, but it will not be to become big timers or to sell to big timers. If we do it, it will be to test our bloodlines at the highest level, though it is not an aim or a priority for us, for now.
In the meantime we will continue serving the small sabungeros like us.
