We ought to have a Philippine Game

There are American game, English Game, Irish Game, Kagoshima Game (Satsumadori) and Burmese Game (Pama). But, despite being the new cockfighting capital in the world, there is no Philippine Game.

Now we have to do it. We have to make a chicken that will be acknowledged as Philippine Game. A chicken that fits the type of the traditional Filipino fighting cock. A Filipino chicken should be both for eating and for fighting.

In the good old days of Filipino sabong, before commercialism, our chicken for fighting was also the same kind of chicken for eating.

A Philippine Game will help preserve sabong the tradition. It will also help in food production which, in the first place, is one of the purposes a true chicken should be able to serve.

The need for such, has also been aggravated by the proliferation of online betting on cockfighting called online sabong in the Philippines. If no move shall be taken, the world will know of sabong as an instrument of gambling and a vice. Not, as a centuries-old tradition and livelihood.

Time will come that, for lack of knowledge about true sabong, new generations of Filipinos will be ashamed that their ancestors were sabungeros.

We have to showcase to world the sabong which is part of tradition. And, a Philippine Game will help.
