Scorpion Ox Mclean best blender

A good bloodline must be a good blender. Meaning it can be crossed and blended with other bloodlines and result in winning lines. There is no sense in keeping a bloodline that cannot blend with other bloodlines as most battle fowls are crosses. Scorpion Ox Gamefarm has one such bloodline.

Scorpion Ox Gamefarm of Steve Sarmago is in Argao, Cebu. It is home to several imported and local bloodlines. It is also a partner farm of RB Sugbo Gamefowl Technology and it is where most of RB Sugbo’s Rooster Biotechnology, a method of raising and conditioning game fowl the natural and organic way is being studied and developed.

In the past years Scorpion Ox has shared with many lovers of the game fowl its excellent breeding materials. Scorpion Ox has several bloodlines, from sweaters to hatches to blacks and even some off colors. However, not many knew that amid all these wonderful bloodlines, one is nearest to Steve’s heart—the Scorpion Ox Mclean.

The Scorpion Ox Mclean originally came from the Mclean of Alvin Ong, a fellow Cebuano breeder. Through the years the SO Maclean proved to be an excellent blender. Blended with his Dink sweater, the Mclean produced the 4 webber cross that scored a whopping 75% win average. For some years the four webbers had been Steve’s winningest roosters. Whether fought as stags, bull stags or cocks.

In 2011, the 4 webbers were undefeated at the hands of Lemuel Go of LG farm in Leyte which was also a partner farm of RB Sugbo, thus it had easy access not only to RB Sugbo bloodlines but also to those of Scorpion Ox. LG farm later merged into Barsur GF, the reigning NFGB and EVGBA Breeder of the year.

Another favored cross of Steve was, a blend of the Mclean and yellow legged hatch, marked LNLI. The LNLI is similar to the four webber in looks and in fighting style. The two lines have a common blood in the SO Mclean. More recent blends of the Mclean -- the Mclean x Col Givens hatch and the Mclean x possum sweater-- are both successful.

The SO Mclean was and is instrumental in the production of many of the Scorpion Ox best battle lines. According to Steve he is bent on keeping the Mclean as one of his main lines. Hopefully this year he can harvest enough of the mclean pure and crosses and make them available to others, he said. Steve believes that good lines should be shared with others rather than kept by the breeder for his exclusive use. “The satisfaction lies in seeing your bloodlines winning in the hands of as many friends and clients as possible.” he said.

In addition to the Mclean, Scorpion Ox also has another very good hatch—the Blueface. Steve is also keeping the 5k sweaters that came from Bebot Uy. He is experimenting with some new bloodlines too, including a black henny line. Likewise, Scorpion Ox is propagating the RB Sugbo Blakliz and the Sugbo Lemon, which are also being produced and fought by Barsur GF.

For years, Scorpion Ox adheres to its motto that “Good roosters make good friends.” The SO Mclean is indeed one of Steve’s good roosters that could make many good friends.

The Scorpion Ox Mclean is also made tougher by Rooster Biotech.

What will be the standards

of the fighting rooster

of the future?

The Peruvian is getting popular in the Philippines. It is a different kind of rooster. It is much bigger, much taller, much stronger, although not necessarily better than the American Game fowl.

Definitely the Peruvian game fowl will change the standards of the future. In some instances it will tremendously improve the present bloodlines. On the other hand it could also ruin many good bloodlines of today.

The Peruvian has a couple of good traits vital to winning Long Knife fights. But it also has more bad traits. Finding out which are good and which are bad is the challenge.

We think just enough Peruvian blood is good. Too much Peruvian blood is bad.

We are trying to balance it out. Check out the PERUBLIZ.
